Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the mediators in the talks between Tehran and Washington have not yet officially conveyed to Iran the American rejection of the peace proposal that Iran presented last week at the UN General Assembly. Iran insisted that only diplomacy can resolve the conflict with the United States and Israel, after US President Donald Trump rejected the Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting. Trump claimed that desperation is the motive behind the Iranian pressure to reach an agreement, but left the door open for diplomacy when he said he expects negotiations to continue in additional talks this week. Araghchi stated: "We are waiting for the mediators to convey the final positions to us, and we will make a decision based on them."
