Flight cancellations — Israeli passengers explained an important rule
After flydubai suspended flights between Dubai and Israel due to an incident on flight FZ1073, the publication explains passenger rights under Israeli law: refund or alternative flight, assistance services (meals, hotel, transport), and conditions for receiving fixed compensation of 1,530–3,670 shekels, which may not be paid under "special circumstances."
After flydubai temporarily suspended flights between Dubai and Israel due to an incident on flight FZ1073 and recommendations from Israeli security authorities, the publication Cursor Info explains passenger rights under Israeli law on aviation services. When a flight is canceled, the passenger can choose a full refund of the ticket price (including fees and taxes, within 21 days) or an alternative flight to the final destination. Free assistance services are also provided: food and drinks, a hotel if an overnight stay is needed, transport between the airport and the hotel, and communication services. For passengers with a connecting flight booked on a single ticket, the cancellation of one segment may entitle them to a refund of the entire amount. Fixed compensation is 1,530 shekels for flights up to 2,000 km, 2,450 for up to 4,500 km, and 3,670 for over 4,500 km. However, the airline may be exempt from payment if it proves that the cancellation was caused by "special circumstances" beyond the carrier's control. The publication recommends that passengers check with the airline for specific offers and keep their documents.
