The Haifa Magistrate's Court extended until October 7 the remand of Ali Maswada, 28, suspected of murdering his wife Yanina Rusinova in Haifa. The murder occurred last week, on the night between Thursday and Friday, in the lower city of Haifa, where Yanina lived with her partner. Police were called following a report of a woman critically injured, and her death was pronounced at the hospital. Concurrently with the legal proceedings, Lily Ben Ami, who is assisting the family, published a post raising serious allegations about how Yanina's mother, Anna, who lives in Belarus, was treated. According to Ben Ami, the mother was notified of her daughter's death only five days after the murder, and does not know where her daughter's body is or if she was buried. Anna seeks to raise her two-month-old grandson but does not know where he is. Ben Ami contacted the police, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and welfare authorities for assistance. She also said that Yanina's friends provided information that may be important to the investigation, and she connected them with the investigation team. The Haifa municipality's welfare authorities placed the child in temporary emergency foster care on the morning after the murder.
