Police have located additional recordings of former Israel Bar Association head Efi Naveh, strengthening the evidence against him in the Naveh-Ornstein affair. According to police, the conversations substantiate the evidence against Naveh and former District Court President Eitan Ornstein. The case will be transferred to the prosecution and the Attorney General, but police believe there is sufficient evidence for an indictment.
Police have located additional recordings of former Israel Bar Association head Efi Naveh, which strengthen the evidence against him in the Naveh-Ornstein affair. According to police, the conversations that were located substantiate the evidence against Naveh and former District Court President Eitan Ornstein. The case will now be transferred to the prosecution and the Attorney General for decision-making, but from the police's perspective, there is sufficient evidence for their indictment. The focus will now be on the admissibility of the evidence. The affair began on May 28, 2024, when it became known that Lahav 433 had detained Ornstein and Naveh for questioning on suspicion of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. The investigation began following a publication in the media about two months earlier. Last July, former Minister Ayelet Shaked gave an open testimony in the affair, after police requested to take her open testimony. In May, i24NEWS revealed that in April 2025, Lahav and head of the Police Investigations Department Boaz Balt requested to question Shaked under caution on suspicion of breach of trust, despite their claim that the statute of limitations had already expired four years earlier. The accompanying prosecution also supported the questioning of Shaked under caution.
