Israel Fire and Rescue Commissioner Eyal Caspi responded today (Wednesday) to the security affair exposed by i24NEWS, in which a 19-year-old from Kafr Qasim, serving in national service as a firefighter at a station in central Israel, was arrested on suspicion of promoting terrorist activity, planning a series of attacks, and establishing a terrorist cell. In his letter, Caspi wrote that upon receiving information from the Israel Police, the volunteer's service was immediately terminated, and a comprehensive internal investigation was conducted examining recruitment processes, control and supervision mechanisms. Caspi emphasized that this is an exceptional and isolated case that does not reflect on all national service members and volunteers. Two days ago, i24NEWS revealed that the young man planned an attack at a strategic site he accessed as part of his role, and that he began taking an interest in terrorism at age 16, underwent a radicalization process since the war in Gaza, and made contact with Hamas elements and Iranian intelligence.
