The Israel Land Enforcement Authority is not enforcing the demolition of illegally built sukkahs in Haredi cities, due to fears of Haredi protests and the activation of alert lines that would summon protesters and lead to attacks on inspectors. This was reported this evening (Sunday) by Kan News. The Authority does not enforce the demolition of illegal structures, including dangerously built sukkahs, in Haredi cities. The Authority stated: "The Authority carries out enforcement activities in accordance with its powers and professional considerations only." According to the Authority, enforcement in Haredi cities is carried out through both overt and covert means. "Although this is a matter under the responsibility of the municipalities, this activity of the Authority has been intensified ahead of the Sukkot holiday, with an emphasis on balconies and illegal construction additions that may endanger the public." It was further stated that "the manner of execution of each activity and the assistance required for its implementation are determined according to the circumstances on the ground and in coordination with the Israel Police, as required. The Authority will continue to act to uphold the law and the public interest."
