Far-right leader in Germany attacks Israel: 'Illegal wars'
Tino Chrupalla, co-chair of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, sharply criticized Israel's military operations in Gaza and Lebanon in an interview, comparing them to Russia's war in Ukraine and claiming they violate international law. He also criticized Donald Trump and distanced himself from the Austrian Freedom Party's rapprochement with Likud.
Tino Chrupalla, co-chair of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, sharply criticized Israel's military operations in Gaza and Lebanon. In an interview with journalist Flavio von Witzleben, Chrupalla compared Israel's actions to Russia's war in Ukraine and argued that both violate international law. He called for an end to double standards in the West. Chrupalla also criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, who he said broke his promise to end wars, and distanced himself from the Austrian Freedom Party's rapprochement with Likud. In another part of the interview, Chrupalla warned that the German government is leading to a direct confrontation with Russia, partly through the production of drones in Germany that are sent to Ukraine. He called for restoring the Nord Stream pipelines to purchase cheap energy from Russia. Chrupalla noted his party's surge in polls, crossing the 30 percent threshold, and its victories in eastern German states.
