Dr. Jamal Al-Hams, the hospital's medical director, confirmed that the general electricity grid has been completely shut down since the beginning of the war, making the hospital entirely dependent on generators. He explained that the lack of fuel led to the forced suspension of all surgical operations, outpatient clinics, cesarean sections, and endoscopies. Al-Hams warned of humanitarian disasters, noting that the hospital serves about 700,000 displaced people and receives more than 3,000 patients daily. He described the deprivation of services as "deliberate killing." The hospital's minimum fuel needs amount to about 1,000 liters per day. He issued an urgent appeal to the United Nations and international organizations to intervene.
