Dog helps woman discover deadly cancer

A 50-year-old British woman, Georgie Copeman, discovered a rare aggressive tumor thanks to her Dalmatian Benson taking up the entire sofa, forcing her to sit in an uncomfortable position. The diagnosis was uterine leiomyosarcoma. Despite surgery, the disease returned with metastases. The woman passed away on September 17, 2026.

Georgie Copeman, a 50-year-old British former bodybuilder, discovered a rare and aggressive form of cancer — uterine leiomyosarcoma — thanks to her Dalmatian named Benson. In April 2025, the dog stretched out on the sofa, leaving no room, and the woman had to squeeze in beside him in an unusual position, after which she noticed a strange bulge on her abdomen. Her spouse Adele felt a tennis ball-sized lump that disappeared when the woman stood up. Previously, Copeman had attributed chronic fatigue, bloating, and heavy periods to perimenopause. In June 2025, she had her uterus removed along with a giant tumor comparable to an eight-month pregnancy. However, in early 2026, the disease returned with metastases in the pelvic area and peritoneum. Doctors gave her 12 to 18 months to live; palliative chemotherapy did not help. While in hospice, Copeman married Adele on August 5, 2026, after six and a half years of relationship. She also actively supported the Sarcoma UK charity. Georgie Copeman passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 50.
