Despite police demand: Meital Sa'ar to be released to 11 days of house arrest

The Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court ordered the release of Meital Sa'ar, wife of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa'ar, to full house arrest for 11 days, contrary to the police's demand for 14 days. Judge Yuval Kedar ruled that the obstruction concern was prevented through actual arrest, and imposed conditions including a ban on contact with involved parties and a financial deposit.

The Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court ordered today (Thursday) the release of Meital Sa'ar, wife of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa'ar, to full house arrest until November 1, 2026 – for 11 days. Judge Yuval Kedar thereby shortened the period requested by the police, which stood at 14 days of house arrest. In addition, Sa'ar is prohibited from contacting those involved in the affair until November 1, and she was required to deposit 50,000 shekels in cash and sign a personal guarantee and a third-party guarantee of 50,000 shekels each. The two were brought to the hearing on release conditions by investigators from the National Fraud Investigation Unit (NIFU) in Lahav 433. Police representative, Chief Inspector Ilan Yanko, argued that there is still a real concern of obstruction of the investigation and requested imposing stringent conditions, including house arrest, a ban on meetings between the two for 60 days, and removal from municipal facilities. Attorney Haya Tzion Zakai, representing Meital Sa'ar, objected to some of the demands and argued that the financial deposit of 100,000 shekels is excessive. In his decision, Judge Kedar ruled that 11 days of full house arrest are sufficient, while noting that the obstruction concern was prevented through actual arrest.
