More than 20 products banned in various countries were found available for purchase on Amazon, TEMU, and TikTok Shop. In some cases, the products did not declare the presence of mercury in their ingredient lists at all. The problem is exacerbated when removed products reappear under a different name, through a different seller, or with a changed package. In tests conducted, creams and soaps for skin lightening were purchased from sellers in different countries, and manufacturers did not respond to inquiries. The platforms stated that the sales violate their policies and that they are working to remove them, but the products were still found available. For the Israeli consumer, the low price, professional images, and ratings do not indicate compliance with safety requirements in Israel.
