MK Shaul Meridor, one of the most prominent opponents of Benjamin Netanyahu, harshly attacked the prime minister in an interview with 103FM. Meridor accused Netanyahu of lying in the campaign against Gadi Eisenkot, saying: "There is no greater lie than this, to say that Gadi would abandon Israel's security." According to him, Eisenkot asked to enter Rafah and Netanyahu stopped him. Meridor claimed that the government has abandoned the north and south for nearly three years, and that "all this government cares about is its own survival." He accused Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and Smotrich of preventing the return of hostages, saying: "Dozens of hostages who could have returned alive, came back in coffins." Meridor expressed confidence in political change, noting that he walks around with Eisenkot and talks to people, including Likud central committee members, who in a closed room say what they will do. He called for fighting Hamas and Hezbollah "to the bitter end," while demilitarizing Gaza and maintaining Israel's authority to operate there.
