In a video he released, Abu Zaida promises to reveal in the coming days the nature of the contacts he conducted over the past year and a half between Israel and Hamas. According to him, the contacts were aimed at bringing about a large-scale prisoner exchange deal, under which Israel was supposed to release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, allow workers in, and solve the electricity and water crisis, in exchange for the release of the captives and bodies held by Hamas. Abu Zaida, who lived in the Jabalia refugee camp and left for Cairo with the outbreak of the war, presents the Israeli leadership with another question mark regarding the intelligence failure. His promised interview on Al-Ghad channel is expected to shed further light on the missed warnings and the secret contacts.
