The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of concluding new business agreements with Russia even before the end of the war in Ukraine. The White House hopes that such arrangements will demonstrate Washington's readiness to restart relations with Moscow and serve as a tool to advance the peace process. According to the publication, this step marks a change from Trump's previous approach, who earlier stated that he did not intend to conclude business agreements with the Kremlin until the war ended. The idea of new agreements diverges from the position of both parties in the US Congress — Republicans and Democrats have supported further strengthening of sanctions pressure on Moscow. Trump himself continues to count on the possibility of reaching an agreement with Vladimir Putin, claiming that the Russian side is supposedly ready for a peace agreement. However, there has been no significant progress in negotiations: Moscow and Kyiv maintain fundamentally different positions on key issues, which has led the diplomatic process to an impasse.
