Bill Gates warns of 20 years of disruption due to artificial intelligence
Bill Gates warned that the world may face about 20 years of economic and social disruption due to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, pointing to risks of job loss, cyberattacks, and biological threats, and called on governments and societies to prepare.
Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, warned that the world may face about 20 years of economic and social disruption as a result of the rapid development of artificial intelligence. In an interview with the 'Decoder' program hosted by the tech site 'The Verge', Gates pointed to risks including job loss, escalating cyberattacks, and biological threats, along with the impact of intelligent systems on human relationships. He explained that governments and societies are not moving fast enough to keep pace with the transformations imposed by the technology, warning that a lack of preparedness and appropriate regulatory measures could exacerbate risks and delay expected benefits. He added that artificial intelligence differs from previous technological revolutions in its ability to perform cognitive tasks that previously required human expertise, as well as the possibility of integrating it into currently used software and devices without the need for radical changes in how individuals interact with technology. Gates believes that the next twenty years may witness profound transformations in the nature of work and daily life, but he does not consider the occurrence of continuous crises during this period to be inevitable, as outcomes depend on the ability of societies and governments to manage the transitional phase.
