In a letter sent to the commissioner, Ben Gvir claimed a 'waste spree' and cited a 'renovation project in Lahav 433' as an example of unnecessary spending. However, police clarify that the budget item was intended for infrastructure renovations for the Gideonim, an operational unit whose fighters participate in counterterrorism. A senior police source said: 'These are fighters who take part in thwarting terrorists and are forced to return to base and sleep in a tent.' It was also revealed that the frozen funds were also intended for infrastructure for the Yamam and the Border Guard compound in Yehudai, where elevators are not working. Ben Gvir's office stated that 'the wastefulness of the commissioner's environment directly harms important projects budgeted by the minister.'
