Halloween is gaining ground in Israel: In Tel Aviv's Dubnov neighborhood, the "Night of All Neighbors" event is taking place with over 1,200 registrants and 150 decorated buildings. Organizer Michal Zamir: "As long as there are reasons to be happy, we go for it."
Halloween, All Saints' Eve, has become part of the Israeli landscape in recent years, especially in Tel Aviv. In the Dubnov neighborhood, the community event "Night of All Neighbors" is taking place this evening (Saturday), which started 8 years ago on a small scale and has become a tradition. Over 1,200 residents have registered for the celebration, and about 150 buildings are expected to be decorated. Participants will receive branded bags for collecting candy and bracelets, and there will be a competition among the decorated buildings with prizes from local businesses. Michal Zamir, a neighborhood resident and one of the organizers, says the event gives a sense of belonging and that the community is cohesive with over 10,000 members in WhatsApp and Facebook groups. According to her, the celebration does not come at the expense of Purim, and in a time of complex security reality, "as long as there are reasons to be happy, we go for it."
