Arab Parliament welcomes UN call to document occupation crimes in Gaza and prosecute perpetrators

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, welcomed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' call to document violations in Gaza and hold those responsible accountable. He stressed the need for independent and transparent investigations, noting that over 630 bodies and human remains have been recovered from under the rubble since November 2025, with estimates that more than 8,000 people remain missing.

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, welcomed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' call to document violations and crimes committed in the Gaza Strip and hold those responsible accountable. Al-Yamahi stressed the need for independent and transparent investigations to determine legal responsibilities. He said that the recovery of hundreds of bodies and human remains, most of them children and women, including entire families, from under the rubble of buildings destroyed by Israeli occupation attacks, reflects the scale of the humanitarian tragedy and destruction. He pointed out that the High Commissioner reported the recovery of more than 630 bodies and human remains from under destroyed buildings since November 2025, while estimates indicate that more than 8,000 people remain missing under the rubble. He emphasized the need to protect targeted sites, preserve forensic evidence and biological samples, and document the burial sites of victims. He called on the international community to ensure the access of international investigators and experts to Gaza, and to enable Palestinian authorities to continue search operations. He also called on states and parliamentary institutions to support documentation and accountability efforts.
