Almog Cohen's petition rejected: KKL chairman allowed to express political opinion
Judge Noam Sohlberg dismissed Deputy Minister Almog Cohen's petition against KKL Chairman Ayal Ostinsky, ruling that the ban on election propaganda does not apply to the board chairman due to the political nature of the role. Cohen was ordered to pay court costs.
Judge Noam Sohlberg, chairman of the Central Elections Committee, dismissed Deputy Minister Almog Cohen's petition against KKL Chairman Ayal Ostinsky and ordered Cohen to pay court costs. Sohlberg ruled that the ban on participating in election propaganda, which applies to KKL employees, does not apply to the board chairman due to the political nature of the role. The petition was filed following Ostinsky's public support for Gadi Eisenkot. Sohlberg distinguished between the professional level, which is committed to neutrality, and the elected political level. Ostinsky welcomed the decision and clarified that he would continue to express political opinions. The confrontation between the two included mutual harsh epithets.
