Constitution Committee Chairman MK Simcha Rothman harshly attacked Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit, calling him a "Kaplanist" and "the spiritual father of the Kaplan protests." The remarks came against the backdrop of the AI video published by Religious Zionism, in which senior judicial officials, including Amit and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, are seen being arrested by police. In an interview with 103FM, Rothman said that Amit and Baharav-Miara are not objective parties in the discussion on changes to the judicial system, and accused them of acting "as an arm of Kaplan" and as a political opposition. He rejected claims that the video was intended to incite violence, but admitted it may have been "too harsh and graphic," while clarifying that he does not retract the message. Rothman argued that the new plan reflects an internalization of criticism, and cited as an example the proposed change in the method of selecting the Supreme Court President, which he said would allow all judges to participate in the selection.
