After legal battle: Supreme Court allows publication of name of Gaza Division intelligence officer on October 7 – Aryeh Amidoror

The Supreme Court permitted the publication of the name of Lieutenant Colonel Aryeh Amidoror, the intelligence officer of the Gaza Division during the October 7 attack. Amidoror, the son of Major General (res.) Yaakov Amidoror, waged a legal battle against his dismissal from the IDF and against the disclosure of his identity. The military determined that he bears command responsibility for the failures leading up to the massacre.

The Supreme Court permitted the publication of the name of Lieutenant Colonel Aryeh Amidoror, who served as the intelligence officer of the Gaza Division during the October 7 attack. The decision came after a legal battle waged by Amidoror against the process of ending his service in the IDF and against revealing his identity to the public. Amidoror, the son of Major General (res.) Yaakov Amidoror, assumed his position in the Gaza Division in May 2023 and was exposed to the "Jericho Wall" plan – Hamas's attack plan. According to investigations, an expert female NCO from Unit 8200 warned about drills similar to the plan, but the assessments did not lead to a change in the threat perception. One of the focal points examined is his conduct on the night between October 6 and 7: he arrived at the division's base in Re'im but did not order an increase in alertness. An expert committee found significant failures in intelligence processes, and the IDF recommended ending his service. Amidoror opposed the process, but in June his claims were rejected. Now, with the conclusion of the military process and the permission to publish, one of the most prominent legal proceedings regarding personal responsibility for the failures of October 7 comes to an end.
