Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salama was assaulted and shot nine times inside his cell at Israel's Ganot prison on September 15, after Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed his cell and photographed him while threatening to execute him. Lawyer Ghufran Zamel, who visited Salama on Monday, confirmed that an Israeli force returned and stormed the cell again at 4:00 PM on the same day, severely beating him including on his face, and fired nine shots at him. Zamel stated she does not have confirmed information about the type of ammunition used, but noted that rubber bullets are typically used in suppression operations inside prisons, making their use likely. She added that three days after the assault, Salama was taken for imaging of his injuries before being returned to his cell without medical treatment except for painkillers. According to the lawyer's visit, Salama still suffers from the effects of the assault and his health condition is poor.
