Prolonged gunfire was heard overnight (Monday) in the city of Rahat and continued into the early morning hours, against the backdrop of an ongoing conflict between clans. Residents reported panic among children, some of whom were afraid to go to school. Police forces arrived in the city and opened an investigation. The Security and Emergency Department of the Rahat Municipality issued an unusual message to educational teams, in which it described the area as a 'civil war' and instructed to bring children into classrooms or shelters. One resident was quoted as saying: 'The children are afraid to leave the house, we felt like we were in a war,' and criticized the authorities' response, claiming that if the incident had occurred in a Jewish city, hundreds of police officers would have arrived.
