After 15 years: Iron Dome achieves historic milestone - and not in Israel
For the first time outside of Israel, a "Tamir" interceptor of the Iron Dome system was fully manufactured and assembled in the United States. The new plant in Arkansas, established in collaboration with Rafael and Raytheon, will also produce interceptors for the US military, in a move aimed at accelerating production and strengthening the defense systems of both countries.
For the first time outside of Israel, a "Tamir" interceptor of the Iron Dome system was fully manufactured and assembled in the United States. The new plant in Camden, Arkansas, was established by Rafael in partnership with American Raytheon under the joint venture R2S. The plant will also produce interceptors for the US Marine Corps (SkyHunter). The inauguration ceremony was attended by the head of the Homa Directorate in the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), Moshe Fattal, and a senior vice president at Rafael, Shlomo Toaff, who emphasized the strategic importance of the cooperation. The Iron Dome system has recorded over 10,000 successful operational intercepts in 15 years of activity. Establishing the production line in the US is part of the Ministry of Defense's strategy to accelerate interceptor production and strengthen the partnership with the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
