The Shin Bet has uncovered significant terrorist organizations in the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev, including plans for attacks in Be'er Sheva. A security source stated that the organizations included plans to attack the Be'er Sheva police station, carry out attacks at the central bus station, and target soldiers. Shin Bet chief Ronen Zini presented at a cabinet meeting military infrastructures that were thwarted, alongside identifying trends of attempts to establish "military battalions." One of the organizations was thwarted in recent days in Shagiv Shalom. The security source noted that the basis for the organization is combined, with involvement of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and ISIS. The Shin Bet identifies that many of the activists are Bedouins living in Israel under family reunification, second and third generation. The security establishment notes that the hostile activity is based on ideology and a desire for revenge for IDF operations in Gaza and Judea and Samaria, while identifying with the Palestinians. Over the past year, dozens of Bedouins from the diaspora have been arrested for involvement in organizations and lone-wolf terrorist acts. The trend worries Shin Bet chiefs, and priority has been given to exhausting investigations in the Bedouin sector.
