According to the indictment, Azulai left the scene, returned about ten minutes later with a knife, and stabbed the complainant repeatedly in the face and head. The complainant was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The State Prosecutor's Office today (Thursday) filed an indictment with the Central District Court in Lod against Shahar Azulai, 28, from Rehovot, for attempted murder. According to the indictment, filed by attorney Shachaf Kleinman Shimoni, the incident occurred in late August in the evening, when the complainant and his girlfriend were sitting at a kiosk plaza in Rehovot. The complainant confronted Azulai for cursing a passerby, leading to an argument during which Azulai threatened the complainant. The kiosk owner asked both sides to leave. The complainant and his girlfriend moved a few meters away, while Azulai went in the other direction. About ten minutes later, Azulai returned to the kiosk plaza holding a knife and threatened: "I'll cut him, I'll screw him, I'll show that bastard what's what." He then approached the complainant, pulled out the knife, and stabbed him multiple times in the face and head. He also cursed the complainant's girlfriend when she said she was calling the police. Azulai fled the scene on an electric bicycle and discarded the knife in an unknown location. The complainant was rushed to Kaplan Hospital by ambulance in serious condition and was sedated and ventilated. The indictment charges the defendant with attempted murder, threats, possession of a knife, and obstruction of justice. The prosecution requested that he remain in custody until the end of proceedings, noting that his actions demonstrate recklessness with severe violence and a cold weapon, with intent to cause the victim's death.
