941 days missing: Haymanot Kasau’s family rallies in Jerusalem to demand Shin Bet investigation

A demonstration was held on Wednesday in Jerusalem's Paris Square by the family of Haymanot Kasau, who has been missing for 941 days. The protest, led by the Kasau family, calls for the transfer of the investigation into her disappearance to the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). The demonstration follows the Jerusalem Municipality's refusal to permit the family to erect a protest tent outside the Supreme Court, near the Knesset, and opposite the Prime Minister's residence. Haymanot Kasau went missing on February 25, 2024, at the age of nine, from the Safed absorption center where she lived with her family. Her father, Tesfaye Kasau, addressed Lahav 433, the Shin Bet, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that when the family recently met with Lahav 433, none of their questions received answers. He asked how the investigation into the abduction of a girl who has turned 11 could be conducted without suspects, a direction, or basic checks like phone geolocations and polygraphs. A campaign statement said the investigation has passed through four different hands without a single lead. Shelly Shem Tov, mother of released hostage Omer Shem Tov, spoke at the demonstration, expressing shame for having forgotten Haymanot and calling on the public to support the family.
