The sentence was handed down in a New York court, following a legal process that lasted over six years. Weinstein, once a powerful Hollywood producer, is concurrently serving a 16-year sentence in California.

Harvey Weinstein, the former film producer who became a symbol of the #MeToo movement, was sentenced today (Wednesday) to 15 years in prison for the sexual assault of Miriam Haley, who worked as a television production assistant. The sentence was handed down in a New York court, following a lengthy legal process that lasted more than six years. Weinstein's original 2020 conviction was overturned in 2024 by New York's highest court, which ruled that his rights were prejudiced by testimony from additional women not part of the charges. In the retrial last year, a jury convicted him once again of assaulting Haley. Weinstein, 74, faced a sentence of up to 25 years in prison. He has already served more than six years in prison during the legal proceedings. Haley gave difficult testimony in court, describing the devastating impact of the assault on her life. Weinstein apologized to "anyone I may have hurt," but repeatedly emphasized that he is innocent. Concurrently, he is serving a 16-year sentence in California for rape.
