The Knesset Finance Committee approved significant budget transfers for the 2026 budget, including 81 million shekels for bomb shelters following Operation Roar of the Lion, 67 million for the Artificial Intelligence Authority, 30 million for road safety, and 74 million for legal representation abroad.
The Knesset Finance Committee today approved a series of budgetary changes to the 2026 state budget. The transfers, approved after the consent committee's endorsement, include significant additions to the ministries of defense, transportation, justice, and the Prime Minister's Office. 81 million shekels will be transferred from the Defense Ministry's budget for the procurement and deployment of bomb shelters across the country, as part of the lessons learned from Operation Roar of the Lion. In the Prime Minister's Office, an internal reallocation of about 67 million shekels was approved for the Artificial Intelligence Authority. In the transportation sector, a transfer of 30 million shekels was approved, along with an authorization to commit approximately 852 million shekels for development activities by the Israel Land Authority, including the rehabilitation of former industrial lands. An additional 30 million shekels will be allocated to the national road safety program. The Justice Ministry will receive an addition of about 74 million shekels to adjust the budget for legal representation abroad, in light of the increased activity of the Universal Jurisdiction Unit since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, as well as to adjust the budget of the Public Defender's Office.
