Official bodies in Israel, including the Prime Minister, the National Security Council head, and senior security officials, deny any connection to a meeting with former Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, who landed at Ben Gurion Airport on an Egyptian plane on September 26, 2023, 11 days before the October 7 massacre. According to reports, Kamel warned of a "major attack planned by Hamas." Netanyahu confirmed last night in an interview that Kamel arrived in Israel but claimed he did not meet with him because he was at a memorial ceremony for fallen IDF soldiers. Mossad chief David Barnea and Shin Bet head Ronen Bar also denied a meeting. Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana estimated that the meeting was with one of the security chiefs, but all senior officials sat beside Netanyahu at the ceremony. The Prime Minister's son, Yair Netanyahu, published a post on X attacking the media and claiming the question is who did meet with Kamel and why it is being hidden.
