According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), as of the end of August 2026, nearly 86,000 new apartments remained unsold by contractors. At the current sales rate, it would take about 27 months to sell the entire inventory. The data is published against a backdrop of a slight increase in the number of apartments sold in recent months. From June to August, about 24,000 apartments were sold in Israel, an 11% increase compared to the previous three months and an 8.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025. However, after adjusting for seasonal changes, there was actually a 2.9% decline in sales. Jerusalem tops the list of cities with the most apartments for sale, with 10,249 new apartments. It is followed by Tel Aviv-Jaffa with 9,820 apartments, Bat Yam with 4,992, Haifa with 3,974, and Ramat Gan with 3,729. 30.7% of the new unsold apartments are in the Tel Aviv district and 24.7% in the Central district. The Central and Southern districts led in the number of apartments sold, with 23% and 22.6% respectively. Kiryat Gat, Tel Aviv, and Haifa were the leading cities in new apartment sales. The data indicates a complex picture: an increase in sales alongside a very high inventory of new apartments.
