30 years after his father made history with the "Leviathan", his son brought the "Dragon" to Israel

St.-Sgt. (res.) A. completed the journey his father began about 30 years ago, bringing the submarine INS Dragon to Israel from Germany. The father, Lt. Col. (res.) Y., was part of the team that brought the INS Leviathan. The two speak about the pride, the challenges, and the shared language of submariners, as well as the technological leap between submarine models.

St.-Sgt. (res.) A. completed a historic journey this week when he brought the submarine INS Dragon to Israel from Germany, 30 years after his father, Lt. Col. (res.) Y., made the same voyage with the submarine INS Leviathan. The two are the second father-son pair in the history of the Navy to replicate such a sailing. The father describes a significant technological leap between submarine models, noting that the Dragon did not require intermediate stops along the way, unlike his own voyage. The son, who enlisted in September 2023, initially served on the Dolphin and was later selected for the Dragon's first crew. He speaks about serving during the war, the special courses he underwent, and the great pride, alongside the need to prove himself. The two share a common language that the rest of the family does not understand.
