20 floors, 114 apartments: The design of the 'Journalists' House' project in Tel Aviv approved

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Local Committee approved the architectural design plan for the 'Journalists' House' project on Kaplan Street. The plan includes preserving the front wing of the historic 1950s building, alongside the construction of a 20-story tower with 114 apartments and about 5,000 square meters of commercial and office space. The complex will be opened to the public with a passage to Itamar Ben-Avi Street.

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Local Planning and Building Committee approved the architectural design plan for the 'Journalists' House' complex at 4 Kaplan Street, paving the way for a building permit. The project, designed by Bar Orian Architects in collaboration with Foster + Partners, combines the preservation of the front wing of the historic 1950s building with the construction of a new 20-story tower containing 114 residential units and approximately 5,040 square meters of commercial and office space. The building, known as 'Sokolov House', was designed by architects Shlomit and Michael Nadler and still serves the Journalists' Association today. Under the plan, the currently enclosed complex will become an open urban space with an accessible public passage between Kaplan Street and Itamar Ben-Avi Street, an inner courtyard with seating areas, and preservation of existing trees, including an olive tree in memory of journalist Ilan Roeh.
