On Trump's Mission: US Ambassador Demands Deployment of Soldiers to Protect Synagogue in Belgium
US Ambassador to Belgium Bill White, on a mission from Trump, visited a synagogue in Brussels and demanded the deployment of soldiers to protect it after a window was smashed. Israeli Ambassador David Saranga joined him and warned of the significance near Kristallnacht. Local police said it has not yet been determined that this was a deliberate attack.
US Ambassador to Belgium Bill White visited yesterday (Saturday) the synagogue of the Orthodox Jewish community in the Anderlecht district of Brussels, at the request of President Donald Trump, and demanded the deployment of soldiers for its protection. This followed the smashing of a window on the third floor of the building on the night between October 27 and 28. White is convinced that this was a deliberate anti-Semitic attack and said he would appeal to the Belgian Defense Minister and Interior Minister to request the deployment of soldiers. Israeli Ambassador David Saranga, who joined the visit, warned that the damage to the synagogue just days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht is a warning sign for European governments. However, the local police inspector said it has not yet been determined that the stone was thrown intentionally, and no complaint has been filed regarding an anti-Semitic incident. White also revealed a joint initiative with the Moroccan ambassador to hold a concert and community event in the neighborhood.
