Yesha Council Chairman Visited Argentina and Attacked British Hypocrisy
Israel Gantz, chairman of the Yesha Council, met with Argentine President Javier Milei and attacked British sanctions on settlements, drawing a parallel to Argentina's struggle over the Malvinas Islands. The meeting agreed to strengthen ties.
Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, met with Argentine President Javier Milei at his official residence as part of a first-of-its-kind diplomatic mission in South America. In the meeting, the third between the two and the first at the presidential residence, Gantz linked Argentina's struggle over the British-controlled Malvinas (Falkland) Islands to British sanctions on settlements in Judea and Samaria. Gantz attacked "British hypocrisy" and said, "The days of the White Paper are over. Britain must end its occupation of the Argentine Malvinas Islands and cancel the shameful sanctions on Judea and Samaria." The sanctions, announced by British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in September, include an import ban from settlements and sanctions on settlers. In response, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced measures against London. Milei, a staunch supporter of Israel, posted photos from the meeting on Instagram. Gantz's associates described the meeting as warm and productive, and Gantz called it "a historic meeting."
