Yair Golan: "We have an opportunity to form a change government with the Arabs"

Yair Golan, chairman of The Democrats, calls for forming a change government in partnership with Arab citizens of Israel, following the election results. Golan argues that Netanyahu lacks a Zionist majority due to the Haredi parties in his bloc, and that the change bloc has a majority of 65 to 55.

Chairman of The Democrats party, Yair Golan, issued a strong statement on the morning after the elections, October 28, 2026, calling for the formation of a change government that would rely on Arab citizens of Israel and their representatives. Golan claimed that Netanyahu had lost, and that the change bloc has a majority of 65 to 55. He attacked attempts to disqualify the Arab vote, comparing a vote in Tira to a vote in Givat Shmuel. Golan dismissed the claim about the lack of a "Zionist majority" in the change bloc, pointing to 16 non-Zionist Haredi MKs in Netanyahu's bloc. According to him, the change bloc has a clear Zionist majority of 49 to 39 without the Haredim. Golan called for courage and leadership to form a change government in partnership with the Arabs.
