Yair Golan at Rabin memorial: "Netanyahu is creating the conditions for the next Yigal Amir"

Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan said this morning at the Rabin memorial that Prime Minister Netanyahu "is creating the conditions for the next Yigal Amir," hours after an attack on party activists in Shoham. Golan laid a wreath with faction members for the annual memorial day.

Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan said this morning (Thursday) at the Yitzhak Rabin memorial in Tel Aviv that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is creating the conditions for the next Yigal Amir." Golan made the remarks just hours after a 19-year-old youth attacked Democratic Party supporters in the town of Shoham with sticks and a helmet, and even spat on them. Golan arrived at the memorial together with Knesset members and Democratic Party list candidates to lay a wreath at the monument in Rabin Square, for the annual memorial day of the assassination of the former prime minister. He said, "In the same breath I want to say that we will rise and rebuild Israel in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence." Golan added that on the monument it is written "peace is his testament," and said: "Peace is the ultimate security. We must not forget this." The visit was joined by Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai, former senior members of the Labor and Meretz parties, and representatives of social-democratic parties from Europe.
