With a semi-automatic rifle and about 190 rounds of ammunition: Young man from Pennsylvania arrested on suspicion of planning an ISIS-inspired attack

U.S. authorities arrested a 21-year-old man from Pennsylvania on suspicion of planning an ISIS-inspired attack. In his possession were found a semi-automatic rifle, magazines, and about 190 rounds of ammunition. The suspect, Jonathan Hunter Kramer, was known to the FBI from a previous investigation into planning a mass-casualty event while he was a minor.

U.S. authorities last week arrested a 21-year-old man from Pennsylvania, Jonathan Hunter Kramer, on suspicion of planning an ISIS-inspired attack. In his possession were found a semi-automatic rifle, five magazines, about 190 rounds of ammunition, a rifle scope and bipod, pepper spray, and about 30 knives. Also found was a handwritten note reading "Don't look for me." Kramer was known to the FBI from a previous investigation in 2023, when as a minor he was charged with involvement in a plan to carry out a mass-casualty event and possession of child sexual abuse material. The current investigation was opened after anonymous information was received in March that he had cut ties with people from his past and began ordering mysterious packages. Kramer used the online alias "Hamza al-Rashid," expressed affinity for ISIS, and offered to share guides for making explosives with others. FBI Director Kash Patel said Kramer planned "a violent attack in support of ISIS." Attorney General Todd Blanche said authorities' actions "thwarted the alleged attack before innocent people could lose their lives."
