Why I won't vote for Likud
Tzachi Hanegbi, former head of the National Security Council and longtime Likud member, announced that in the October 27 elections he will vote for Avigdor Liberman and Yisrael Beiteinu. The reason is the right-wing camp's inability to solve the problem of draft evasion, which after October 7 has become a threat to the state's existence.
Tzachi Hanegbi, former head of the National Security Council under Netanyahu and a longtime Likud member, announced that in the upcoming elections on October 27, 2026, he will vote for the Yisrael Beiteinu party led by Avigdor Liberman. In an article for Ynet and Yedioth Ahronoth, he explains that this decision was not easy: he has voted for Likud since 1977 and was himself on its list for 14 elections. Hanegbi cites the main reason for switching parties as the right-wing camp's, and especially Likud's, inability to solve the problem of mass draft evasion. He emphasizes that after the Hamas attack on October 7 and three years of war, this phenomenon has become a threat to the state's existence. Hanegbi praises Liberman as a leader who warned of the threat from Hamas before October 7, advocates for judicial independence and against religious coercion, and supports settlement development.
