WhatsApp will allow you to screen calls in the app
WhatsApp is developing an advanced call screening tool that will answer unknown numbers and display a live transcription of the caller's words on the screen. The feature was spotted in the Android beta version. The transcription is processed on the device itself, maintaining encryption. In the initial phase, supported languages are limited to English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
WhatsApp is developing an advanced call screening tool that will answer unknown numbers and display a live transcription of the caller's words on the screen. The feature was spotted in the code of the Android beta update (version 2.26.41.4) by the website WABetaInfo. The system offers three modes: disable screening, automatic mute, and a new mode where WhatsApp answers the call, asks the caller to explain why they are calling, and generates a live transcript in real time. The transcription is performed directly on the device using local language packs, without transmitting audio to Meta's servers, maintaining end-to-end encryption. In the initial phase, supported languages are limited to English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian, and Hebrew is not included. The feature is in internal development and has not yet been opened to beta testers.
