WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will remind users to wish their friends happy birthday, similar to Facebook. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has begun testing in the beta version for iOS devices (version 26.38.10.18 on TestFlight) a new feature that displays birthday reminders directly within the app's future contacts tab. Unlike Facebook, the system does not require manual entry of the birth date, but automatically scans the phone's address book and extracts saved birth dates from it. On the day of the event, a birthday cake emoji will appear next to the text "Celebrating today." The upgrade is planned to be integrated into a new "Contacts" tab, which will replace the "Updates" tab in the bottom navigation bar on the iPhone. The feature is in early development stages and has not yet been activated even for beta testers. No precise timeline for its arrival on the App Store has been published yet.
