WhatsApp conversations allegedly leaked from Orich's hacked phone

Hackers published personal WhatsApp correspondence of Jonathan Orich, an advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after his account was breached. The breach likely occurred due to his account being connected to an external service in Dubai, exposing the code of a communication monitoring system he built for the Prime Minister and his wife. The hackers threaten further publication.

Hackers published personal WhatsApp correspondence of Jonathan Orich, an advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Telegram and WhatsApp groups today (Sunday). The publication comes about two weeks after it was revealed that Orich connected his personal WhatsApp account to an external service operated from the United Arab Emirates. The hackers threaten to publish additional correspondence later. The breach likely resulted from a chain of failures: Orich built a communication monitoring system for the Prime Minister and his wife using artificial intelligence, and left the system code exposed on the internet, including sensitive access details. Additionally, he connected his personal WhatsApp account to a service from a Dubai-based company, which gained unencrypted access to his correspondence. Due to local laws in the United Arab Emirates, the correspondence may have also been accessible to local authorities without a court order. No comment was provided from Orich's side.
