Went to Serve Sentence for Traffic Offenses – and Drove Without a License

Israel Police detained a driver in Baqa al-Gharbiyye for questioning after it was discovered he was driving while his license was suspended. The driver was on his way to perform community service for previous traffic offenses. Police are seeking to extend his remand.

Traffic police officers stopped a vehicle today (Monday) in Baqa al-Gharbiyye after discovering the driver was operating a vehicle while his license was suspended. During a proactive operation, officers pulled the car over for inspection, during which it emerged that the driver was en route to a location where he serves community service for past traffic offenses. The driver was arrested and transferred to traffic investigators for questioning, after which he was jailed. Police are requesting an extension of his remand in court. Police stated that "driving while suspended constitutes a blatant violation of the law and endangers road users."
