Vomiting, diarrhea and brown water: unusual illness at a training base - about a hundred soldiers infected
About a hundred recruits and staff members at Camp 80 base complained of illness symptoms and brown water. The IDF claims it is a contagious disease and not water or food contamination.
About a hundred male and female recruits and staff members at the Camp 80 training base (Dotan Training Base) complained over the past week of illness symptoms, including abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. The recruits complain of brown water with a metallic taste from some taps, forcing them to buy bottled water at their own expense. One female soldier described overloads at the clinic and queues lasting until lunchtime, and sometimes the command staff prevents recruits from buying water at the base canteen. The IDF denies water or food contamination and claims it is a contagious disease. Specialized teams that conducted sanitation inspections found no unusual findings. Some soldiers were sent home, and the base underwent thorough cleaning and disinfection of the kitchen and toilets.
