The Tiberias Magistrate's Court fined a jet ski driver 15,000 shekels for dangerous maneuvers on the Kinneret. The decision was made as part of a plea deal. The violation occurred in June 2026: the man operated the jet ski at a speed exceeding five knots near the shoreline, repeatedly performed dangerous maneuvers, and in one instance was about 15 meters from the shore. He then, along with another person on a jet ski, moved more than 300 meters from the shore while towing an inflatable boat with two passengers. The court found him guilty of violating water safety and port regulations. In addition to the main fine, a conditional fine of 5,000 shekels was imposed for three years. Non-payment of the main fine could result in 75 days of imprisonment. Following the incident, the Kinneret Cities Association announced increased enforcement: materials on serious violations will be forwarded to the association's prosecutor for potential criminal proceedings. The distance from the low-water line within which enforcement authorities can take action was increased from 50 to 100 meters. The association stated a zero-tolerance policy for actions endangering swimmers.
