US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent estimated that Iran's economy could face a severe crisis within four to eight weeks, due to the economic pressure Washington is exerting on the regime in Tehran. In an interview with 2Way TV, Bessent claimed that no oil has been loaded at the export facility on Kharg Island since August, and that Iran currently has no oil shipments en route to overseas destinations. "Panic is beginning to spread," Bessent said, adding that at some point the Iranian economy will enter a non-linear decline. Additionally, he addressed the US midterm elections on November 3 and estimated that even a Democratic victory in the House of Representatives would not halt the Trump administration's tariff policy, amid criticism over the rising cost of living in the US.
