UN Special Rapporteur: Gaza bombed with the equivalent of 6 nuclear bombs
UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese described the situation in Gaza as horrific, stating that the bombs targeting the Strip are equivalent to the power of 6 nuclear bombs, and that the population is subjected to a slow death amid the spread of diseases and malnutrition.
UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, described the situation in the Gaza Strip as extremely horrific, stressing that the besieged population is subjected to a slow death. In statements to Al Jazeera from Tunisia, on the occasion of the third anniversary of the Israeli genocide, Albanese said that the bombs that targeted Gaza are equivalent to the power of 6 nuclear bombs. She added that the occupation army continues to bomb Gaza, turning the rubble into dust, while the population finds no shelter. According to data from the Government Media Office in Gaza, Israel dropped 223,000 tons of bombs on the Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 74,000 people and the injury of 157,000 others, while thousands remain missing. Albanese pointed out that the situation is worsening day by day, and that the population is facing a widespread outbreak of diseases and malnutrition, leading to severe suffering and slow death. She also noted the displacement of many residents from the north and south of the Strip, the near-complete destruction of the city of Rafah, and the forcing of about 1.8 million Palestinians to crowd into less than 30% of Gaza's area. She stressed the difficulty of confronting the situation without international support, pointing to American pressures that led countries such as Senegal and Colombia to withdraw from the Hague Group. She also touched on the collapse of the health sector in Gaza for a long time, and the continuation of global protests denouncing what is happening.
