Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan clarified that Turkey will not send offensive forces under the Makkah Agreement with Saudi Arabia, but will provide only defensive assistance. Meanwhile, a senior Pakistani military official confirmed participation in airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan clarified today (Thursday) that his country will not send military forces to another country to launch an attack under the Makkah Agreement with Saudi Arabia. According to him, the agreement is purely defensive, but Ankara is examining ways to assist Saudi Arabia with air defense amid the escalation with the Houthis. Meanwhile, a senior Pakistani military official told the New York Times that his country is actively participating in airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen. Another source noted that Pakistan's role will focus on countering the drone and missile threat from the Houthis through air support, rather than a ground deployment of troops.
