Four people were killed early Tuesday morning in a rare tornado that struck the resort city of Antalya, Turkey. The victims were four workers at a construction site in the Kepez district, three of whom were Syrian. The sudden storm caused a crane to collapse and tore apart two shipping containers where the workers lived; all four victims were in one of them. Another worker was injured but is in good condition. The tornado arrived shortly after the meteorological service warned of heavy rains. No damage was reported in other parts of Antalya, which will host the COP31 climate conference next month. The provincial governor described the event as an extremely unusual natural phenomenon. Earlier this month, eight people were killed in severe floods in Istanbul.
