Trump says no immediate plan to attack Iran, US forces ready

US President Donald Trump told the Financial Times there is no immediate plan to attack Iran, but US forces are prepared for action. He said indirect talks continue and the naval blockade harms Iran's economy.

US President Donald Trump said in an interview with the Financial Times that his administration has no immediate plan to attack Iran, but emphasized that American forces are "locked and loaded" if an attack is required. Trump described the US position vis-à-vis Tehran as "excellent" and claimed that the American naval blockade is severely harming the Iranian economy, while oil traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is increasing. According to him, indirect talks with Iran continue and include discussions about its enriched uranium stockpile. The president declined to reveal his military plans. These remarks come amid reports of US military preparations for renewed strikes on Iran after the midterm elections now concluding. Additionally, Trump announced that he had agreed with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end American financial aid to Israel by the end of 2026, amounting to about four billion dollars a year, with Israel's consent.
